This is my friend’s portfolio website, he used the website to show his
art works, but has recently added the blog function, which gave me a
better understanding of what he is up to in NY.

“Joe” Chuang
My name is Yiow-Jun Chuang, but I figured that not everybody can say
Yiow-Jun, so Joe is the solution that I came up with. I wanted to try
something art related since I’ve tried CS, Electrical Engineer, but
have failed miserably. While I struggle to find what other fields I
could go into, I felt in love with photography when I took it for fun
as an elective class.
My personal interest had been anything computer related, let it be web
surfing, game playing, movie watching, I am always there. But as I
grew older, I find it a lot more fun to go places with friends than
sitting in front of computers several hours straight.
As far as the experience with new media, I guess it would be the
shopping/buying interface that I am helping my friend design, we try
to incorporate AJAX into the application to make it more user friendly
. Other than that, I’ve only seen and watched the new medias that’s
out there, never actually produced one.
Technical savvy – a 7 out of 10?? would fixing 10 computers with
different configurations in 5 hours count as tech savvy??

Selmon Damion
One of my favorite blogs is www.planetcapoeira.com/roda/. Since I practice Capoeira I find it informative and some of the videos shown are pretty cool to watch. It also keeps me in the loop with how Capoeira is doing in the mainstream sports arena and how everyone is starting become more and more interested in it. The site where the blog is located also has a few podcasts and a wiki and it is a cool place for people who do not know about Capoeira can go to for info.
The other site that have been checking out, is http://www.cnet.com/ it is a good place to read reviews and talk about new gadgets. They use podcasts as well. I usually go there to read about a new cell phone or tv that I am interested in purchasing, because the review are honest.

Blogging and podcasting may seem new to most people, but companies are quickly catching on and are using these techniques in their latest campaigns. Thanks to Kyle 2.0, a former grad student in the ATEC program, we have the Jaffe Juice blog and podcast. It’s worth checking out if you are interested in marketing, advertising, new media, social software, among others.
Jaffe Juice also makes good use of Google maps and frappr. Scroll through the blog and check it out.

One of my favorite sites is 43 Folders, which is Merlin Mann’s blog about personal productivity, life hacks, and ways to make life better. Today there is a story, with links, on interviewing skill from interviewing guru, John Sawatsky. It’s worth the glance at some of the tips as you embark on your blog. I’ve found through the years that interviewing skills are not the domain of the media, that all of us can benefit from being better interviewers, particulary in our jobs but especially now with the rise of new media.

Jeffrey Miranda
The name is Jeffrey Miranda, 25 yrs, from El Paso Tx. I graduated
from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) with a BA in Drawing
with a minor in Biology.
As an undergrad I became fascinated with the principle structure and
function. And with that idea I was able to combine both Art and
Biology. My Senior thesis was about the 3D reconstruction of cell’s
organ, Golgi Apparatus. The result was a actual plastic prototype of
the structure.
I later I studied Medical Illustration at the Southwestern Medical
Center in Dallas. There I produced numerous drawing studies of
cadaver specimens. As time went on I started noticing the field
didn’t give room for creativity and I simply I saw myself going nowhere.
My time as a Medical Illustration opened new realms I wanted to
explore. I became interested in conceptual design, like medical
instrumentation design, weaponry design, and fluid motion in straws.
I began to produce political heavy humor artwork. Email me if you
want to see some artwork…jeffmiranda@mac.com!

Brent Ozaeta
This is my fourth year in the ATEC program. I want to start concentrating on new media art and design which is what drew me to the EMAC program. Temporarily I am working part-time as an assistant at a small real-estate agency doing marketing and various gofer work.
I try to paint as often as I can and most of my interest lies in contemporary art, Asian cinema, graphic design, and new uses for technology. I guess my main goal in regards to a career is pretty vague -something new and interesting. As for my other goals, they all revolve around me not starving to death in the near future.
I’m most familiar with photoshop cs, flash, dreamweaver mx, ms frontpage, and pretty proficient with computers and technology in general. For several years I’ve dabbled with blogs and have mostly failed to keep them well fed and consistent for lack of content. But I’m currently maintaining a music/mp3 blog of sorts which is fun and passes the time .
