Yipes! Glosup Sure is Ambitious.

David sent me his plan for a personal podcast. If you remember from his personal synopsis, David is interested in getting a degree from ATEC and then going to the Southwestern Theological Seminary to obtain a Master’s of Biblical Studies. He hopes to be a youth minister some day, while also holding down a job in design. He is using the opportunity to podcast exactly like I hope all of you will — to explore an interest, to further one’s studies, career, or to establish a personal “brand” and expertise. I’ll let David take it from here.

My plan for my personal podcast is to basically lead a ten-part Bible study and post it on my xanga(assuming xanga allows me to do this).  I don’t know how many podcasts we were required to do but if ten is too little, then I can definitely do another study after this one.  The first (ten-part) one I want to do is a study that I was actually planning to do at my last church but I never got around to it before I left for school.  It will basically be sermon format(20-30 minutes a piece) a lot like the material that I’ve sent you that I already listen too.  Hopefully, I can add a personal tone of voice and style that will exemplify the uniqueness of my message and what I want to share.  I’m pretty good at public speaking.  (Not trying to be arrogant)  I gave a salutatory address at graduation that I got quite a few compliments on. So, it’s not like I’ve never done something like this before and, this time, I won’t be able to see my audience.

Yipes. I’d be happy with a few of these episodes. Perhaps a plan for 10 and the execution of a few over the semester. Not that I don’t want you to do all of them. If you can, please do so. But along the way, what’s important, is that you experiment with voice, format, and the technology, and I’d hate to see you shortcut yourself by trying to get so many episodes done.

I must say, I am looking forward to seeing how your work progresses, David.

Podcast from Woodland Hills Church in Minn.

Posted by emac3326 on August 28, 2006

From Robert David Glosup

Here is the rest of my homework (week 2) assignment.  This is a
podcast (http://www.whchurch.org/content/page_317.htm) located on the
website for Woodland Hills Church in St. Paul, Minnesota.  I’m a big fan of
the preacher there (Dr. Greg Boyd).  All of the sermons preached at the
church are available for (free) download on the podcast …

A good example of how podcasts are being used. It’s interesting that David is listening to a podcast from a church in Minnesota that he ordinarily would not have access to, unless the church, or pastor, publish a book or CD, and even then you’d have to know that these existed. How did you find this podcast?

Glosup Blog

Posted by emac3326 on August 28, 2006

David Glosup has posted is blog and it’s here. David chose Xanga, so I’m curious as to why he chose it and what he thinks of the social network aspect of it, as opposed to a more traditional blog host.

Religious Blogs.

Robert Glosup

www.protestantpub.com -This is a meeting place for all different
denominations of Christianity (within the protestant church that is). You
can leave comments on other people’s sparked discussions or you can make one
up yourself. For a kid who likes to study the Bible, this is a great way to
get widespread opinion.

www.therobe.blogspot.com -This is a personal blog that was started by David
Roberson. It contains devotionals that he updates daily. As you can see
from the website, his ministry has done great through the blog. He even has
a book called “The Blog of Job”.

Personal Synopsis: Glosup

Posted by emac3326 on August 21, 2006

Robert David Glosup

My name is Robert David Glosup but I go by David. I just graduated high school in May from Mabank. I was the salutatorian of my class. My purpose for taking your class is that I am pursuing an ATEC degree from UTD. After I obtain my bachelor of arts, I hope to go to Southwestern Theological Seminary and obtain a master’s of Biblical Studies. Kind of strange, I know, but it’s what I’m doing. I hope to be a youth minister and hold a tech design job at the same time. As far as emerging media, I don’t have that much experience with it yet. I have designed simple Powerpoint and Photoshop projects in high school and I’ve messed with video design a bit but I’m not a professional or anything like that. Anyways, your class seems very interesting and I’m sure I’ll enjoy it a lot. If there’s anything else you’de like to know, just write back.
